de Brune, Aidan: The Dr Night Trilogy, v.1

Some time ago in the general discussion forum I wrote about newspaper serials in Australia, and mentioned Aidan de Brune, author of many such serials which never appeared between book covers. Between Project Gutenberg Australia, Roy Glashan's Library, and I, all of his available fiction was recovered and converted into ebook form.

I have prepared this special omnibus of the three Dr Night stories for this Library to give an idea of the more pulp-style serials, and of de Brune's writing. The books are:

Dr Night
The Green Pearl
Whispering Death

"Dr Night" starts as seemingly straightforward crime tale set in the mean streets of Sydney before drifting towards fantasy, and the drift continues through the succeeding stories until there is a truly fantastic climactic battle between an air fleet and the mystic powers of Dr Night.

The whole of de Brune's work is Life +70 and is available on Project Gutenberg Australia and Roy Glashan's Library, an associated site which also offers Australian PD books. An illustrated biography of de Brune which includes details of his incredible 10,000 mile walk around Australia is also available free on Project Gutenberg Australia.

The covers of all of the de Brune books were created by me using PD illustrations and text, in a suitably pulp style.
