What tags does kepubify use to recognize footnotes/endnotes? I'm really struggling getting this to work.

kepubify does nothing with footnotes/endnotes. Might I ask why you would expect it to? The popup footnotes are done by the WebKit based renderer.

My mistake. I misunderstood the kepubify description -- I thought it was adding some code to the notes to get the Kobo renderer to recognize it. My mistake. I'm just having trouble getting endnotes & footnotes that work in Books on macOS to work on my Kobo. More info here...
