Adobe E-book support in the (updated) prs-500
Question about the prs-500 firmware upgrade.
My library has only a few books in epub format but a very large collection in the adobe pdf (drm'ed) format. Does the prs-500 only support the epub format or does it also support (or can you convert) the adobe pdf ebook format? Thanks |

You should be able to read both PDF and Epub from your local library.

As AprilHare and Grooks said--you should be able to read both. But, it probably suffers from the same problems as the 505--you can only have one type loaded at once. For some reason, if you have an ePub loaded, PDF's won't work and vice versa. It's my understanding that this is an Overdrive problem--not a Sony one. Also, although both ePubs and PDFs work, ePubs work a lot better. Most of the PDFs I've downloaded are too small unless reflowed--and if you reflow them weird paragraph/page breaks can occur. Something I'd be upset with if I had purchased the books--but I'm willing to put up with for library downloads!

You can borrow both... but for some reason, they both won't work on the reader at the same time. (One will work and the other type will give you a protected page error.) Note this only applies to DRMed ePubs and PDFs.

Does this mean I can only have one book checked out and uploaded to the e-reader?; or I can have multiple books on the e-reader but only read one at a time. If reading one at a time, how do I switch books (unload one and load the other).
Thanks. |

A Protected Page! error occurs on the Reader when opening a borrowed book that is in the ePub or PDF format. Quote:

Hmmmmm.
Might be a problem with the Adobe codebase. |
