Calibre taking a long, long time to update metadata on sony prs650

Hey

Hooked up my old 650 to the new laptop (running win7, 64 bit, calibre 0.8.53), and starting moving books over from the library to the reader after it was charged.

It's taking a long time to move the metadata over for the books, but it's lightening quick moving the books over. Each book is averaging around 3 mins for metadata to be sent, and about 1 second tops to move the actual epub over.

Any idea what happened or if there is a switch or something I forgot to disable? Ran like butter on my old laptop, but since the new install, just noticed this today. Haven't tried to move any books over to my nook or kindle yet.

Any helps appreciated!

Small update, took a few hours to move about 40 books over to my reader tonight. Crazy slow.

Turns out the metadata is taking a lot longer to move than I thought. Added a screencap of the jobs screen in case it helps.

And how big is the 'metadata.calibre' file on your device?
How many books are on your device?
Are you using a USB 2 port on your PC (and is it using USB2 Mode for the connection)?

Metadata file is about 5megs big.

There's about 2500 books on there now. Opens pretty quick, interface is snappy, but for some reason moving books to calibre now takes a long, long time.

USB 2.0 ports are in use

With a lot of books on the device the metadata sync is always going to be slow. You want to make sure you move all the books in one go so that the metadata sync only happens once. The Reading List plugin can help with this (as well as being useful for other reasons)
