Irex DR1000S Penabled Pen - Replacement

Stylus Pen for Gateway Tablet CX2618 CX2726 CX2728 CX2750 CX2755 M-280 M280E NEW
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stylus-Pen...item231879ff70

Works perfectly with the Irex DR1000S and is quite reasonably priced.
Definitely better to handle than the original.

Can you confirm that you've tested those pens yourself? I can't see any reference that those Gateway models use Penabled technology, so I wouldn't have thought that they would work with an IREX.

The ebay link you provided is finished, but these ones look the same and are still available: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gateway-S...item1c159a32db look just like the ones you mention/

If you can confirm they work I'll go ahead and buy one. Otherwise it's 3 times the price from Wacom.

Thanks!

Hi Guys, the link regarding the pen I had posted is dead, true :-).
I am not sure about the pen you are asking. Check the specifications of the tablets. If the tablets itself are Penabled tablets, or otherwise use penabled technology, the pen definitely works. Anything that uses the aging Wacom Penabled technology would work on the Irex. The ones have posted definitely work. However, the buttons on the pen cannot activate the eraser without touching the screen, so it is just the pen that works.
So I confirm that it works with the Irex, I use the pen mentioned in the post instead of the thin Irex Wacom pen provided with the Irex DR1000.

Regarding the battery, the use life is 12 and a ½ hours, tested more than several times already.
Hope this helps, Check the specifications of the Gateway tablet and whether it is based on the Wacom’s Penabled technology

Check the alternative pens section

These look exactly the same as the pen I got from ebay:
http://www.suntekstore.co.uk/product...tylus+Pen.html

Suntek are OK, but be patient with them, and at the moment they seem to be out of stock.

Also, see these at ebay, exactly the same as mine:

Good luck...

Thank you papata, that gives me cause for hope.

Following your links, I detect some possibly inconsistent information:
The tabletpcreview states:

FinePoint Innovations
Only legacy/discontinued Tablet PCs like the HP Compaq tc1000 and the Gateway CX200/M280 series used this type of digitizers. In contrast to WACOM and N-Trig does their pen need a separate battery.

while both the pens you recommend indicate compatibility with CX200 and M280 devices.

Is it possible that these devices are compatible with Penabled?

Cheers!

jonathan_s, Not sure that I am an expert on tablets.
One of the posts confirms what you are saying:
http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/gate...et-pc-pen.html

The price of the pens in question is quite reasonable and the pen which I have works for me. It is definitely a much better pen than the original thin stylus provided by Irex.

Better contact Gateway and ask them for more information, of course if they are willing to provide any. I could not find much information on their tablets either. I remember just relying on a forum.tabletpcreview.com. forum post, which pointed that some of their models use Wacom's penabled screens. If you find anything more, certainly it would be appreciated. Also, you may want to ask for an advice on the forum.tabletpcreview.com.

Good luck

Quote from the forum post from forum.tabletpcreview.com
"Just a brief history: Gateway once offered their first Tablet PC, the M275, with a Wacom Penabled digitizer. After that, Gateway switched to the FinePoint Innovations digitizer ever since 2005."

The comments seems odd with Wacoms own statements:
http://www.wacom-components.com/news..._capabilities/
Gateway's E-155C notebook is the first OEM mobile device to use Wacom's Penabled® G5 digitizer technology.

Here we introduce some of the products of other manufacturers that incorporate Wacom Penabled Technology.
Integrated Products (as of March 2009)

The Wacom's comments on the penabled for Irex:

Recent auctions on ebay for Gateway's E-155C pens, there you go:

Whereas the Gateway's CX200S or CX200X do not use Wacom Penabled EMR.
Hope this helps.
