Kobo Discounts: Coupon Codes + Discussion

I'm currently contemplating actually buying a couple of books AT FULL PRICE!

Despite being in Kobo Unlimited, it looks like I don't get any discount as a VIP member (I thought we usually got 10%).

They don't seem to be available for purchase with SuperPoints.

Aha! They are a little bit cheaper at Amazon UK. I could price-match them and get more than 10% off the price that way.

I just have an aversion to paying full price when I have so many books in my TBR

Does anyone have any one-time discount codes they're not going to use?

Not every discount is 10% either - i keep my wishlist books on spreadsheet to calculate the total price after discount and tax:

Depending on the publisher, not all Kobo books get the 10% vip discount. If you don't get the 10% off, a coupon won't work on the book either.

FWIW, I'm seeing 10% on Rakuten points at Kobo US right now, instead of the usual 1.5% or 2%. Haven't yet bought anything, so haven't verified, but that's what the splash says...

Kobo has a gift card deal going right now, but for only one more day. I don't need any gift cards right now, so didn't notice it until now. It's kind of an intermediate offer - $10 bonus on purchase of $60. Over the past couple of years, their best gift card deals of $10 bonus on purchase of $50 have usually been around the year-end holidays and around Mother's Day, which is coming up (in the US, at least). Since I don't need any more credit urgently, I'm going to wait and see if the $10/$50 thing comes up next month, but in case anyone else is looking right now, here is info and a link.

I checked Kobo UK, and there's a similar £10/£60 deal there, also ending 4/22. And other Kobo country stores usually have similar deals too...

Rakuten is giving a 20% rebate on ebooks and devices (5% on gift cards and accessories) from today until May 11.

This is the deal in the US; I haven't been able to check other sites to see what if anything is being offered.

Kobo has an offer (at least, it does in Canada) for a $50 gift card for your mother and a $10 gift card for you). Oddly, my mother has the same email address as me.

Valid until 2026-May-13.

And this ^^^ is the one I was waiting for. Over the last couple of years, as far as my memory goes, they've done the $10 on $50 thing only for the year-end holidays, and for Mother's Day, and the rest of the time, it's been $10 on $60 or $10 on $70.

(I do have some vague memory of $10 on $40 a long time ago, but that may have been the Walmart year-end deal some year???)

Even though the 20% was supposed to last until May 11 and was good on May 4, Rakuten has cut back the rebate to 15%. Which is still very nice, of course, but that's not what the come-on I was getting last week said!
