My kindle appears to just freeze after trying to turn on text to speech... after installing this hack
**EDIT** re-read the instructions and found the bit about waiting 6 minutes in the restore section and tried that when installing it a second time and now it's all good ^^ The voice is a bit funny though lots of miss pronunciations of common words... such as spelling out mr.... better then the default though so no complaints =] Last edited by CarlBullock; 08-08-2011 at 09:18 PM. |

Cannot find what progress has been made on TTS for English or the files
Please can someone post links to the current installation package and the English TTS files as I can't find them on the Polish website. Thanks |

Has anyone figured out how to package another realspeak voice and make it work with this mod? I looked through this thread and read the polish thread with google translation but couldn't find the info.

Guys, there's no progress on this project, because Kindle is capable to use only vocalizer voice files with 155mrf22 coder.

hey, guys! if you don't have a time to write a complete how-to tutorial for "cooking" custom tts packages, please give me just a general info about this process and I'll write a how-to for our friends on this forum!

Romanian Voice
Hello good people,
I'll receive my first kindle (And my first eink ebook reader) tomorrow, a nice white Kindle 3G w/ SO, and I've been gathering information about it for quite some time. I've also took the time and searched for a 155mrf22 Romanian TTS voice and found one but I have no idea how to embed it to my future device. I'm tech savvy, linux user since my early childhood (now rocking with OS X since 2005) so if i would just get my hands on a bit of sketch about the procedure I'm sure i can make my own package in a heart beat. Thank you in advance ! Bogdan |

Ok, here's how to prepare your very own TTS installer
- Download attached .zip - Get your voice files from your own source ( I recommend to read this topic ) - Rename files : First language depes_(language code).dat - depes_enu.cfg1.dat depes_(language code)_(name).dat - depes_enu_samantha.dat phonmap_(language code)_(name).dat - phonmap_enu_samantha.dat pp_(language code).dat - pp_enu_cfg1.dat synth_(name)_dri40_155mrf22_270_06.dat - synth_samantha_full_155mrf22_270_06.dat sysdct_(language code)_(cfg code).dat - sysdct_enu_cfg1.dat tokentn_(language code).dat - tokentn_enu_cfg1.dat uselect_(name)_dri40.dat - uselect_samantha_full.dat Second language depes_(language code).dat - depes_enu.cfg2.dat depes_(language code)_(name).dat - depes_enu_tom.dat phonmap_(language code)_(name).dat - phonmap_enu_tom.dat pp_(language code).dat - pp_enu_cfg2.dat synth_(name)_dri40_155mrf22_270_06.dat - synth_tom_full_155mrf22_270_06.dat sysdct_(language code)_(cfg code).dat - sysdct_enu_cfg2.dat tokentn_(language code).dat - tokentn_enu_cfg2.dat uselect_(name)_dri40.dat - uselect_tom_full.dat - Put all these renamed files inside TTSmod/nuance/data/ - Follow install instructions for TTSmod v4 Enjoy |

Hi seaniko7, thank you for your GREAT job.
I've followed your v 0.4 install instructions and now I'm enjoying one of your packs: (UK English - Serena) + (UK English - Daniel). I would really appreciate if you could help me to mount my own pack (UK English - Daniel) + (Brazilian Portuguese - Raquel). I've tried hard using your instructions above, but something is *really* wrong with my countrywoman speaker... Thank you in advance Last edited by espirito; 09-12-2011 at 07:04 PM. |
