Question Help using templates

This is a truly remarkable program and I love the fact that I can experiment with bits of it.
Currently I am trying to set up a system for ranking books according to my own idiosyncratic criteria. So far so good but it is somewhat cumbersome and I want it in colour

So I have two questions:
1) how do I use an @Name user category in a template?
2) how do I set the colour of a column (row) in a template?

You can't. A template can read only the metadata for the book being processed. User-defined categories (@categories) are not part of a book's metadata.

Again, you can't. Assuming that the template is being used in a composite custom column and thus the resulting value is part of a book's metadata, you must set up coloring rules that check the values produced by the template.

Ah well, another good idea bites the dust!
Thanks for that ... I will try & work round it - I've just realised I can fiddle quite a lot with the colour columns in preference so I might try there, and I could always add a 'authors worth reading' column and ...
