I'd say Feedbooks got it wrong. Wells died in 1946, so his work will be in the Life +70 public domain from 1 January 2017.

Talking about the offline forums: where’s Saint-Exupéry? He died in 1944, but his Le petit Prince hasn’t been put back online yet.

We asked Alex to move it on 1st Jan 2015. He has not yet done so for reasons best known to himself.

War of the Worlds was published before 1923 also, PG has it available and you know they do their homework as far as being PD.

According to Wikipedia, he died in 1950, that makes it 2021.

There's no automatic handling of this. We have been waiting for some updated library system for some time, but it's obvious it won't happen soon enough. I guess we'll have to discuss how to proceed.

Wells definitely died in 1946. His work will, therefore, enter the life+70 public domain on 1st Jan 2017.

PD in the US. The server is in the US. Thus, it's 100% legal for War of the Worlds to be here.

My best recommendation is to re-upload the copy if:

1) You already have a copy
and
2) You are in a life + 70 (or Life + 50) country.

(You know the old saw..."if you want something done, do it yourself...")

Don't do that unless you are uploading a different version in some way (different format, better formatting/illustrations).

The offline books are still part of the system (the files are not deleted, just disabled), and we don't want duplicates. If you need/want a particular book moved back online, just tell us. (I didn't move "Le petit prince" before because I didn't take the question as such a request).

Arthur Conan Doyle - Jellands Voyage

The short story is first published 1892 in the Magazine "Harper's Weekly" and later in collections like "Round the Fireplace Stories (1908)".

I've the impression, that there are two different versions of the Story:
- a more detailed one, probably the "original"
- and a shorter Version, which is published in all Story Collections.

The shorter Version starts with "Well, said our Anglo-Jap as we all drew up our chairs ..." and can be found everywhere.

I'm looking for a source of the detailed Version (and will not hesitate to publish ist as E-Pub, if I only can get it

).

Can anybody point out a source?
