Bookworm_Girl Vote • October 2016
Help us select what the MR Literary Club will read in October 2016!
The options this month come from our rotating nominator, Bookworm_Girl. Voting will run for four days. The vote will close exactly four days from this post; even if the final tally doesn't occur immediately after voting closes, no votes made after that time will count. Votes will be made by post. Each person has SEVEN (7) votes to use. You may give each nominee one or two (or no) votes. You may vote all at once in one post or vote in separate posts at different times, so long as you have more votes remaining to cast. You may use any number of your possible votes up to the maximum. Any extraneous votes per person (past their maximum or more than two for one nominee) won't count. Votes cannot be changed once they are cast. If you vote for the winner it is hoped that you will read the selection with the club and join in the discussion. The rotating nominator may not vote. Once voting is complete, the count will be tallied and a winner declared. In the event of a tie, there will be a one-day run-off vote, also in this thread. If the run-off also ends in a tie, then the tie will be resolved by the nominator. The floor is now open! * From Bookworm_Girl: Here are my choices in no particular order except the last two which seem to be paperback only for Australia. I think everything else is available in ebooks for most everyone (US, UK, Canada and Australia). The descriptions come from Goodreads. I noted availability at various library sources in the US (at least for where I live so your success may be similar). I selected a mix of time periods and locations. One is a novella, and another is a short story collection. I hope you all enjoy them! Voting is closed. Final results-

Very interesting list, thanks, Bookworm_Girl!
My votes: 1 Accordion Crimes 1 The Cellist of Sarajevo 1 Captain Corelli's Mandolin 1 Bel Canto I'm not sure if I would like to do so but: could I give any of these books a second vote (say tomorrow) or should I have given the second vote immediately? |

Voting is closed and the winner is Bel Canto! I'll have the discussion thread up soon.
I almost felt a little guilty voting for it because I'm so behind on my reading, but it was among my top two choices from this month's selection (I really enjoyed the preview sample) and I will read it, even if it could possibly be a little later than some others of you. |

I'm looking forward to it. I've had this book on my TBR for a long time, and I have never read anything by Ann Patchett. I have already checked it out from my library and am ready to get reading!
