"Variable Fonts" supported in epub?
Are variable fonts supported in epub yet? Anyone have experience with this? A google search didn't really give me any answers. I'm guessing it's just too new to be supported.

It sounds like this is more an issue for ePub reading software rather than the ePub spec itself.

The EPUB 3 Core Media Types specification calls out the following specification for OpenType:

ISO/IEC 14496-22:2009 - Information technology -- Coding of audio-visual objects -- Part 22: Open Font Format.

This is the ISO's version of the OpenType specification from 2009. It significantly pre-dates font variations that were introduced in Microsoft's OpenType version 1.8 in 2016.

I would say that embedding a font in an EPUB that does not comply with the 2009 specification would result in a non-compliant EPUB. It might be handled by some e-readers, but certainly not by all.
