FireStick TV resolution

I bought an original FireStick in October, 2014. Last week I bought a Bleiden converter for it to plug into by 1982 vintage Panasonic TV.

Yesterday I tried to set it up, but the picture is a mess. The Amazon rep suggested that it might be a resolution issue, but he couldn't help.

Any ideas about what I could do before paying someone to set it up?

Don't have a lot of experience with HDMI converters, but have you tried contacting the companies support folks (phone or email) or checking out their YouTube videos & troubleshooting guide to see if that's any help?

The stick has a menu for screen resolutions. It probably defaulted to auto but if you don't like the results you can manually try the others. Do you know what resolution your TV is designed for? 1982 is old, it may not like any of the modern standards, 720p, 1080p.... From memory you can set the refresh rate to 50 or 60 and the resolution to one of several values. If you have any other device with hdmi in, like a pc monitor, you can use that to check that the stick is not faulty.
The other thing that can mess up screen is lack of power reaching the stick. Use the Amazon power supply for the stick and don't ask it to self power from the tv

PS the 1st gen fire stick was an underpowered POS anyway. Prone to overheating, screen freezing. Later generations are much better, Amazon put in a better cpu, better GPU, improved the cooling....
