Have e-books turned a page?

Interesting article from CNET News: Have e-books turned a page?

Quote:
After more than a decade of false starts and empty promises, publishers may finally be starting to understand what consumers want from electronic books.

Thanks for the link, Laurens. It is interesting that particularly top-selling authors like J.K. Rowling and John Grisham are against e-books. I don't see how selling e-books is a greater security risk than selling paper books nowadays. There are various places on P2P or IRC networks where you can download any kind of e-book which was perfectly scanned from the paper book original.

They're actually driving people who prefer electronic formats to get their fix in the black market.

That's true. Especially fresh converts to ebooks. A few of my friends who start reading ebooks then don't want to read anything but ebooks. Then if they can't buy what they want to read, they'll get it however they can... This will all shake out in another couple of years. Information wants to be free!
