As far as I unserstand, if this happens, I don't need any changes to CTS&RTS (Hardware Fow Controll)-Settings. So when the soldering is correct/good, I should get a terminal connection, where i can interrupt the boot process. Right? |

Right (except for a bad ground connection).
The problem will be between the Kindle internals and the point where you put the Tx - Rx jumper. |

Baud rate 11500, 8bit, 2stop as previous thread. Only difference is I use windows 8. I do not have Linux PC. Dougle Profilic is used with Cisco serial without any problems. Very strange.

1v8, 2v2, 3v3, 5v0, other? How did you connect it to the Kindle? As in, lead by lead for each connection point. PS: What do you mean by "previous thread?" |

Hi,
Many thanks for all the work done here ! With your help, I managed to get root access on my KT 2014, but now I'd like to clearly unterstand what to do in order to jailbreak it. I have a 5.6.0.1 unit, so I have unterstood I'll have to do it the "hard way". But what doest it mean exactly ? I think I have to download some tools and run them on the Kinlde, but wich ones and where to get them ? Regards |

Copy the standard jailbreak scripts over to the Kindle, then from your root access run the `jb.sh`.
Used to be, the fake update*.bin would run jb.sh via a poison filename -- now you need to do it manually. Note: It needs to be done on the main partition, not diags. |

But where can I find the ?
They all seem version related, and I've never found anything else that '5.4' in the name. To sum up, most of the explanations tell you "with 5.6, you have to do something else" but no link. |

**BUT** Its **contents** can be used **manually** from the serial port command line for many other firmware versions. I.E: It is only the "automatic" behavior that is specific to the firmware version, not the contents. |

Hi,
Sorry guys but I still need your help ! Here is what I've done on my KT with 5.6.0.1 firmware. 1) Get root access using serial port (normal boot) 2) mntroot rw 3) copy "kindle-jailbreak-1.14.N.zip" in kindle root 4) eject the Kindle so that I can access "/mnt/us" 5) Unzip this archive 6) Unzip "kindle-5.4-jailbreak" 7) run "jb.sh" [root@kindle us]# ./jb.sh info jb_install:mount_root_rw::Mounting rootfs rw info jb_install:install_update_key::Copying the jailbreak updater key info jb_install:install_fw54_exec_userstore_flag::Creat ing the userstore exec flag file info jb_install:install_bridge::Installing the jailbreak bridge info jb_install:install::Setting up MKK persistent copy info jb_install:install::Setting up RP persistent copy eips: pixel_in_range> (256, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (272, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (288, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (304, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (320, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (336, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (352, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (368, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (384, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (400, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (416, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (432, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (448, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (464, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (480, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (496, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (512, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (528, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) eips: pixel_in_range> (544, 936) pixel not in range (0..600, 0..800) Is it supposed to be enough ? I don't see "Jailbreak" appear (I'v tried with and without rebooting). My main goal is to install Duokan, but I'm not sure I can go any further. Thanks for any kind of help |
