Lost metadata.db

Library existed on 2TB usb3 drive J: (win 7 x64)
Added 2nd 3TB usb drive somehow mucked up drive lettering
i.e. not in sequence J dissappeared entirely
H: and I: now exist
H: has folder 1Cal, containing all books/folders/metadata, graphics etc

But on start up of latest Calibre, cannot access that folder
no metadata_db_prefs_backup.json and metadata.db files in there now

Tried a few things after searching here last one was
lib maint/restore to folder with all data in
told folder not empty.

Cannot access my data as lib so next step anyone?

Thank you

All you needed to do was to select the location on H: in Switch/Create Library dialogue

If the metadata.db file still exists in H:\1Cal folder then you should be able to do that now

Or you could change the drive back to J: see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...#1TC=windows-7

thanks for the quick reply,
Pointing at H: Switch/Create gives 3 options

use the previous existing library @ the new location
create empty lib @ new location
move current lib to new loc
Only 1st seems to make sense but will not (folder not empty)

Have tried comp management / storage to j: but metadata nad its companion do not reappear.

Running another backup for now (its rather big b4 I try ??? something different.

I do not have many ideas but differing searches on here and google with helpful people I will get an answer somehow I believe, something simple I'm hoping for.

Locate (using windows Search) metadata.db (you want the FULL Path to that folder) There should als be gobs of Author Name folders

That is the Library as you see it in the GUI
That is where you will point Create/Switch: USING existing to

After System search including recycle bin
Only place containing metadata.db is H:\2Cal
Created with a few random books after no access to library when problem first occured
It contains the two files normally required
metadata.opf
and
metadata_db_prefs_backup.json

H:\1Cal Contains what was my lib with all author, book folders, correct book formats and metadata.opf, jpg for each book.

But no metadata.db

Way to restore control of data existing in H:\1Cal, import?

Thank you

Have Calibre pointed at: H:\1Cal
Run the Library Maintenance Tool:Restore Database
(will take quite some time)

All present and correct.
Just checked and everything appears to be working fine

Thank you all for the suggestions and finally the solution.

I will start a new backup overnight after I have done some work I have meant to do

Much appreciated
