This book looks like it might be a good one. It's not just a recipe book, though, there's more (from previewing a few pages, it looks like the recipes are going to be interspersed throughout the book). The price? It's free!

Be a Dorm Room Cuisinier with this 99 cent Kindle Ebook

Something about this ebook intriqued me, so I'm sharing the information about it with you.

I feel that it is necessary to give you a couple of caveats. For one, I thought that some of these recipes would be simple, and some are, but there are many also which are a little more complicated. Also, some of the ingredients must be bought the day of the big meal, or else the dorm needs to have a refrigerator of some kind to keep the ingredients fresh.

I can see how these recipes would be great not just for college students living in a dorm, but also for bachelors, or anyone who is willing to cook for that matter.

And I must admit my disappointment that my favorite in-dorm-prepared food was not listed in the table of contents. That is the ole made-with-a-clothes-iron grilled cheese sandwich. Yum.

Bon Appetit!

40 Recipes For College Dorm Living. By Justin Richardson. Rated 5 stars but from only 1 review at the present moment. Digital list price $2.99; Kindle price now $0.99. http://www.amazon.com/40-Recipes-Col...ge+Dorm+Living.

Book Description
Living in the dorms with a microwave as your only kitchen appliance isn't easy. You're going to get sick of noodle bowls and oatmeal really quickly.

This book brings together some of the best recipes that only require a microwave (and a couple, a slow cooker) to make.

Forget eating the same thing every day. After this book, you'll be a microwave chef.

Free Cookbooks Courtesy of Mr. Food

I have been intending to post something about "Mr. Food's" test kitchen website. I wanted to list all of the free cookbooks that are available from that site and their respective web addresses.

Well, I've decided that if I wait until I have time to list all of the cookbooks and their respective web addresses, I'll never get it done. So, let me give you in a nutshell what you need to know.

If you go to their recipe landing page, at http://www.mrfood.com/index.php/hct/...ree-eCookbooks, you will see 9 free cookbooks right away. Don't end there however! There are more, gazillions more, at http://www.mrfood.com/index.php/hct/...ood-eCookbooks and
http://www.mrfood.com/index.php/hct/...day-eCookbooks (links for both of these are located near the top of the landing page).

Unfortunately, some, if not all, of the recipe books are only available in the pdf format.

I don't know how good the recipes are, or much of anything else about them, but there's certainly a lot of books of them that the people at Mr. Food have made available and, again, for free!

Big Markdown on a Kindle Ebook on Backyard Cooking

Every now and then I come across a recipe book that is not free that this penny-pincher (me) will actually pay for. This is one of them. It's huge (352 pages/250 recipes), is written/compiled by a credentialed cook, is published by a major publisher (Chronicle Books), and is marked way, way down.

The Big Book of Backyard Cooking: 250 Favorite Recipes for Enjoying the Great Outdoors. By Betty Rosbottom. Rated 5 stars, but from only 4 reviews at the present moment. 352 pages. Digital list price $15.99; Kindle price now $1.99. http://www.amazon.com/Big-Book-Backy...Great+Outdoors.

Book Description
Food just tastes better under an open sky. In this handbook to the alfresco life, one of our best-known cooking teachers shows how to please friends, neighbors, and family with hundreds of delicious dishes suitable for enjoying the great outdoors—whether it's a rooftop garden or a sprawling lawn. With classic fare such as fried chicken and potato salad, grilled favorites like juicy burgers, barbecued ribs, and sweet summer corn, plus fabulous new creations like Lamb Chops with Roquefort, Figs, and Rosemary and Chocolate Toffee Brownie Cake, eating and entertaining outdoors has never been easier. Rosbottom includes her favorite marinades and sauces, appetizers to keep the crowds at bay, deliciously fresh salads and starters, summery desserts, and much more, not to mention great tips for making sure grilled meats are done to perfection. Covering everything from fine dining under the stars to Sunday picnics by the lake, this latest addition to the big-selling Big Book series is the perfect guide to taking it outside.
