Can't format Micro SD card
I've inserted a new Sandisk 32GB Micro SDHC Card into my Nook Color. The NC recognizes new hardware and offers to format the card. I touch the "format" button and the NC loops, recognizes new hardware, and offers to format it again.
I suspect the card is defective. However, when I plug the NC into my Mac the NC and card mount separately. The Mac recognizes the card, formats it (fat32), and I can drag files onto it. When I dismount, the NC goes back to its previous loop. It doesn't recognize the formatting the Mac did. Has anyone else seen this kind of behavior before? Thanks, Kay |

By any chance did you buy your card from Ebay or pay less than $50 for it? There are many cards sold out of China that are fakes with official looking labels. They are really 2 or 4 GB cards that have been made to look like 32 or 64 GB by hacking. The easiest way to check that I have found is to use Windows to format as NTFS. Usually fat32 will work but NTFS will not. If you format with fat32 and drag files that total more than the actual 2 or 4 GB, they will start to overwrite themselves. Or maybe it is a real one that is defective.
