I am interested to see what the othernew Kobo Aura (Editions?) looks like. I like my Aura 6", and don't know if I would like the additional weight of the Aura One. But another light 6" with higher definition would be nice.
I am also curious to see what happens to the cost and availability of the H2O once a larger waterproof device comes out. There might be a bargain coming! |

Obviously some people get very excited over larger screens on ereaders but I suspect most just don't care. I don't care. I'm happy for those who like the idea but I personally have no interest in them.
I am kind of hopeful though about a new 6" Aura 2. I've been reading with my Aura for the past few days and enjoying it. Barry |

Exciting news. An e-ink reader with a screen the size of an iPad mini screen sounds very, very nice. I've been trying to resist the H2O and now here's another Kobo to covet. I'm surprised the Kobo Aura One--that's the name, I gather--doesn't have an SD slot, though. And I guess in Canadian dollars this is going to be an expensive item. Is anyone putting in an order?

I care! I havnt been this excited about an ereader since I they first announced the Voyage! Im particularly excited about seeing that gorgeous 300ppi on this enormous screen... and they called the Oasis a luxury device! Perhaps in price only!?!
As for now though im trying to sweep under the rug my bitterness and resentment at my third Kobo Aura H2O broke after about 5 months of use... really makes me wonder why after all these years it appears so difficult to make a durable, pretty device with a nice screen but yeah im always being reminded that when something is good, it always looks effortless when really a faulty device is a more common norm... I believe this has the potential to really knock Amazon down a couple of rungs on the ereading ladder monopoly, if everything goes to plan... if I was a gambling man I probably would have invested in Rakuten a while ago... I also dont really care about waterproofing but the difference in build quality from the Aura HD to the H2O was kind of staggering for me and I have a feeling that that was due to the differences in construction required to waterproof a device... so I pray that the Aura One also has that premium build quality too!!! I need to pre-order this already!!! Last edited by cerem0ny; 08-11-2016 at 12:09 AM. |

In the US Kobo will have a real hard time grabbing market share until they make it a lot easier to purchase. |

I forked out $450AUD /canadian for an Oasis (which in retrospect/comparison to the Aura One seems an almost criminal cash grab) so this is a walk in the park for the ol' credit card. |

I've no interest whatsoever in the bigger ereaders, but I do like the fact that Kobo are concentrating some efforts in this area, as it makes them of interest as an alternative to Amazon, which is clearly a good thing. |

And this was the first Kobo that broke on me, the others had other issues. Oh and there were about 7. All of them had gradients. Except for my current one. Which is broken. Last edited by cerem0ny; 08-11-2016 at 05:27 AM. |

My H2O is not all that fragile if you treat it properly. I've never broken a screen and I've used six different Readers.

Ive read many buyer reviews of the device saying that their H2O's were very fragile. I believe some were on the Kobos website itself? Or the Chapters listing. Either way theres no way I damaged my device due to misuse - I treated that particular H2o as delicately as if it were my first born child.
Check out these reviews!!! https://m.indigo.ca/product/gifts/ko...o/681495006670 Im with them on this one - hope the new device is a bit better in that regard. Though I doubt it - a larger sheet of glass seems a little more unwieldly with a greater propensity to snap, in my minds eye Last edited by cerem0ny; 08-11-2016 at 05:31 AM. |
