Calibre ToC links don't work in OverDrive
OverDrive has an amazing ebook reader, and it connects to public libraries. However, when I create an ebook in Calibre, and upload it to OverDrive, the ToC links don't work.
Is there a trick to his? What have others found? I am just using standard ebook conversion from MS Word, within Calibre... I create my ToC headings with the Heading 1, Heading 2, within Word. |

Having tested this other eBook readers, I can see that its an OverDrive problem. The ToC work in other eBook readers.
But, it would still be nice to keep all my eBooks in one place... anyone know how to make Calibre ToC work in OverDrive? |

Another TOC method for ebooks
I've been converting a 300 page book from Word for Mac into ePub.
For the Table of Contents for Word for Mac, (or use hyperlinks function for any other program) try using hyperlink to a bookmark to jump to each chapter. This would be from your regular typewritten TOC in the original text, not some new generated TOC using the Header setting. The usual Headings method that is shown for Word works, but the result is a clunky looking TOC placed into the ebook,(which I suppose then needs HTML work to spruce up.) It looks to me as if the hyperlink to the bookmarks will work fine. First place bookmarks on each chapter title page (For Word use Insert,Bookmarks on top left corner on your computer) After that, highlight the chapter name in the regular TOC and hyperlink it to the chapter bookmark. (For Word, Insert,Hyperlink,This Document,Bookmarks arrow, find bookmark and highlight and hit OK.) The reader will see the link in the your regular TOC. Has anyone else tried this? |

A typewritten TOC stays just that. Calibre can generate chapter breaks and an appropriate TOC from specific markups Calibre includes a TOC tool (the Icon looks like a list with a finger selecting), you may have to add the Icon to the toolbar (preferences: look and feel: toolbars). This tool is also available within the editor |
