Transfer EPUB files
Hi,
I would just like to ask a question. Excuse me if it has already been answered. When I transfer an EPUB book from calibre to my ebook reader, three files are displayed: the epub file, the cover in jpg format and a .opf file. Are all these files necessary? I usually delete the jpg and opf files and all seem to be ok; there is no problem with the book. Thank you! |

Which ebook reader?
Where are the 3 files displayed - in Calibre or the ebook reader? |

Mostly NO.
OTOH this may be a device dependency. Some do. Some don't. Preferences:Saving to Disk: remove the ticks for separate cover and separate OPF and see if your device still displays the book correctly. But why are you using Save to Disk instead of Save to Device? |

Thank you for your answers.
Actually I just use calibre for such work, not as a library. I save all my ebooks in an external disk or in a SDcard, which I use with my ebook reader (Pocketbook), as I do not always have my ebook reader with me. |

Why use Calibre then?
The OS can copy files to another location (a connected device). |

You run calibre and select the library you want. Then you plug your Reader into the USB port. Once calibre has recognized your reader, select the eBooks you want to send to your Reader. Then right click and from the menu, select Send to device and then Main memory. That's it done. DO NOT go to the library and copy the files from it to your Reader. That's what's wrong. |

Thank you for your instructions, but I do not copy the files directly to my e-reader; I copy them to an SD card.

Use Calibre to either send-to device, or Save-to-disk in this case, Do not touch the library with anything but Calibre. |

The fact is that, for some reasons, I do not always have my e-reader with me and I use the SDcard as a transfer means. |

Send to device when you have your Reader with you and Save to disk for when you don't.
