I'm confused about the apparent conflict between B&N launching the nook, but also supporting (and selling?) the irex dr800. I've done a little searching and haven't found anything to explain this. Anyone have any thoughts on the differences between the two units? Do they have different intended uses/markets? thanks

Yes, they have different intended markets. A Plastic Logic is different yet. The larger screen of the iREX is less portable and heavier (due in part to additional frame weight to keep you from breaking the screen). However, it is much more suitable for text books and PDF files, has higher resolution as well as bigger screen. Also the 8" device is more expensive and not as cost effective for reading novels. The iREX also have full stylus capability over the whole screen.
