serial JB finished: not sure; am I fixing what ain't broke?

I completed the serial jailbreak guide by unzipping
kindle-5.4-jailbreak.zip

KUAL (incl. mrpackages, gawk binary, and kual+) and the latest nightly of koreader seem to be working fine.

I am still on firmware 5.8.9.2, and the used Special Offers, unregistered KT2 has been in airplane mode from the instant it arrived. I also created that update.blah.blah directory to try to prevent OTA, uh, attacks on my jailbreak.

I notice all this update stuff in kindle-jailbreak-1.14.N-r14393.tar.xz:

Should I install these (using mrpackages), or are they already installed? How do I tell?

It will not hurt to (re-)install them, so do it to be certain.
Put both in /mrpackages and trigger MrPI (KUAL or searchbar command).

Do not let it update to 5.9.anything if you want to use any of our add-ins, none have been fixed for firmware series 5.9.x
