Granted there are some people who do listen to videos or books due to things like visual impairment. I was only speaking in general though.

Sometimes things do blend together. I don't see how anyone can call it reading when the sense that is being used is the ears rather than the eyes though. We comprehend both sources of information via our brain but I'm guessing at different speeds. At least I know when I hear someone speak (on tv) I may not always understand every word, but if/when I see the closed captions (so I can watch at night without disturbing anyone) I have a better chance at not misunderstanding what a person is saying.
