First, update calibre your version is very old. And azw4 is PDF in a wrapper already. Use the kindleunpack plugin to extract the pdf directly no need for conversion.

Many thanks. I have now unpacked the pdf from the azw4 format.
The file is very large and I'd like to compress it. However, when I try the reduce file size in acrobat 10 pro, I get message that: "This PDF document has been digitally signed. The size of digitally signed files cannot be reduced."

I tried Google Bard, which suggested saving in PDFA/1a format but this actually increased the file size from 55MB to 56MB.
1. Is it possible to remove the digital signature eg via copying to another format or printing to a new pdf file?
2. Are there anyways to substantially reduce the file size please?

hi, so I downloaded the trial of nitro pdf pro as you suggest. How can I use it to reduce the file size of a digitally signed pdf?

The optimise option seems to be greyed out on the trial. So how can I test it?

If its not possible to do using the trial please tell me if there is another way

doesn't work?

in that case I would probably try to find a non-signed version

Open and save copy with Ghostview to make it unsigned, or print to PDF (may make it into big images)?
