This may be for an older kindle.
I suspect the OP has no idea that Mobileread's members have different Kindles and that different Kindle versions exist; otherwise, he would have been much clearer than to simply state that a new firmware version exists for a kindle. Additionally, the Subject Heading is quite ambiguous. Be careful of these types of posts, please. Don (Moderator) Last edited by Dr. Drib; 01-25-2015 at 08:20 AM. |

Pretty small update, this isn't exactly one of the new full system images.
Here are the patch files, as revealed by kindletool. Code:
" tar.vim version v29 " Browsing tarfile /home/eschwartz/Downloads/Kindle Hacks/Update_kindle_4.1.2/update-patches.tar.gz " Select a file with cursor and press ENTER 000.prettyversion.txt.patch 001.ca-certificates.crt.patch 002.version.txt.patch 003.cacerts.patch 004.libcurl.so.5.2.0.patch 005.libsoup-2.4.so.1.3.0.patch |

I assume so. The targets seem to be fairly reasonable.
Unless you suspect Amazon can pwn you through patching cacerts, libsoup and libcurl. That seems to be the only changes outside the version number. |

Hi there, would it be safe to try to jailbreak a kindle 4 NT that already has been updated to 4.1.2? Could I use the previous jailbreak? Could that brick the kindle?
