Web Browsing with Kobo?
I've heard that someone could browse wikipedia with kobo wifi. How does it work? I read the thread about 10 times but couldn't quite figure it out. Would someone kindly assist me in this?

browsing, to my humble opinion. Refresh rate is low, the screen black and white. I'm not sure if device uses numeric ip address to find the server or it has place to put dns servers to configuration. Further, what html protocol version the browser supports? Since html is text at heart, one might use perl or python or <insert> to get desired page (or fetch or wget). I'm positive you would not be happy with the end result of the web on ebook reader. What is for sure, browser plus wifi plus dns makes opportunity to see whatever you like. Best regards. |

I suggest making a backup of the .conf file. *) plug Kobo in, select "Manage library" *) Open directory ".kobo", then "Borders Desktop" *) Open file "Borders Desktop eReader.conf" with a text editor *) Replace the URLS in these lines: RequestURL WebsiteURL WebstoreURL *) save and close, eject Kobo *) press "SHOP" button on the left *) press "HOME" or "SHOP NOW" If everything went OK, you should now be at the website you entered. It probably is a good idea to add a trailing "?" at the end, it is said that the Kobo adds parameters (the ? being the indicator for parameters following. A website that doesn't look for parameters ignores them). |
