Do you read 100% of your book or do you skip chapters or pages?
Do you read 100% of your book or do you skip chapters or pages? I have a habit that once I pass 60% in a book I start to skip chapters or paragraphs to rush the time it takes to read a book even if its a good one or if a book is too tedious and boring I will skip pages/chapters to just be over it. Anyone else?

I don't skip, but I've been known to spoil myself sometimes, i.e. to look ahead and see what happens in the end. Then I go back to where I left off and read to the end.
When a book is boring, I usually don't finish it at all, but I don't skip. |

Good or bad, I never experience an urge to skip parts of a book. I read it all, or I abandon it.

I read the whole book unless it's one of those very rare occasions when I DNF it.

I only skip when I’m about to abandon a book and I’m mildly curious about the end, either because I want to justify my decision to abandon or because I want to make sure that in some misguided moment, I don’t pick it up again.
Otherwise, I don’t get it. The journey not the arrival matters. |

The only time I skip is if I'm enjoying a romance novel and it gets tediously biological in depicting sex scenes. They seldom add much more than word count to a story, imo, but if the actual story is good, I'll keep reading whlie skipping the padding.

I tend to skim over sex scenes—I'm asexual so unless the author decides use hilariously weird descriptions they just kind of bore me—but that's about it.

I read completely except when I DNF. If I DNF I usually skip to the end and read the last few paragraphs or pages.
I should note I am a big mood reader. So if I am not drawn into a book and think it is more me than the book I will set it aside to try again later (sometimes years later). In those cases I don't read the ending. When I reread I give myself permission to skim or skip, but I rarely actually do so. |

Not reading 100% would be like going to a nail-biter sporting event, tie score, teams neck-and-neck to the very end ... and then leaving 5 minutes early so you'll be first out into the parking lot.
Inconceivable. Just watch the highlights of the game on the evening news if you're that impatient, or in the case of a book, buy the Cliffs Notes version. Last edited by haertig; 10-28-2022 at 02:52 PM. |

I don't skip unless I'm giving up on the book, then I skip to the end.
I "skim" over verbose scientific explanations at times, when reading syfy. |

I read beginning to end unless I DNF the book. Since I am not aware that I am reading a book, it would be hard for me to skip ahead.
