Firmware Update K3 update 3.0.3 won't install, other updates will

I did! I live in NY. Yesterday my Kindle (US WiFi version) arrived. Went to update manually... file is being deleted and option greyed out.
Found this thread. I have 3.0.2 (553210206).

Nothing on amazon kindle forums about 553210206.
In google this here is the only result.
Btw it is not 3.0.3 or 3.0.4 disguised. At least m.gmail.com still wont let me type username and/or password.

I'm Canadian, got my kindle yesterday.

I also have the build 553210206 with same same issue as everybody else here.

Well, my WiFi issue seems to be solved (see post 24. I did nothing, just stopped activating.

I can't speak English fluently. So I didn't contact Amazon. But Kindle owners interested in that 3.0.4 update, shown as 3.0.2, can contact them in these phone numbers:

...you can call us directly at 1-866-321-8851 or 1-206-266-0927 if you're calling from outside the U.S...

Anyway, if I want to install jailbreak and fondhack on it, should I use the 0.2N version (since it displays as 3.0.2) or the 0.4N version (since it was said actually higher version?)

My kindle arrived yesterday, build number 553210206, can't install update 3.03.

I have succesfully installed The Jailbreak (newest revision) and Screensaver Hacks though, no problems there. The Keyboard localization hack won't install either, may need an update.

Just my experience, hope Amazon will clarify this soon.

The update file needs to be updated with the new build number that comes with these new 3.0.2 Kindles. You can rebuild the update package with kindle_update_tool.

I kinda shy away from this, as I'm not sure the Uninstall works as intended then. I'm patient with this feature, will wait for an official update I guess.

Mine, bought in the UK, begins B008. And, yes, the upgrade doesn't work here either.

It differs depending on what type of Kindle you've got.

B006 = 3G+WiFi with a AT&T SIM which is the one you get in North America and a few other places.
B00A = 3G+WiFi with a Vodafone SIM which generally is the one you get in Europe.
B008 = WiFi only

You need to get the B008 file for your Kindle as it is a Kindle WiFi. It will reject the one for the B00A 3G+WiFi Kindle.

I'm sorry to inform you that, you will not be able to update the software version of your Kindle to the early preview 3.0.3 version because the software version of your Kindle already has all the latest features and performance enhancements included in 3.0.3. This software version came pre-installed on your Kindle and is not available to other Kindle users.

So you don’t need to update the software version of your device further at this time with 3.0.3, but you will be able to install all future software releases.

Im in the uk i just got my k3 today firmware version was 3.0.2
Down loaded update 3.0.3 installed to root of kindle updated fine
Now displays version kindle 3.0.3(536720111)
So it does work
So now iv just to learn how to do all the other stuff, never had a kindle before so its all new to me..
Iv a lot of reading to do on what i can do with my kindle.

Its only the 3.0.2 (553210206) version that can't be currently updated. You had 3.0.2 (529960105) which can be updated to 3.0.3 (536720111)
