Harvard Classics eBoxed Edition
I recently stumbled across the Harvard Classics at Project Gutenberg, and would really like to add the set as a separate Calibre library. My main library already contains over 1,000 books, and I won't live long enough to read them all, but... Anyway, I couldn't find a link to the .zip file containing all the .pdf files, and I prefer .epub format anyway, so I downloaded all the .epub files, one by one, into a separate folder. The problem is, they all have filenames like: "007_Harvard_Classics.epub." When I try to add them to Calibre they all have the title "Harvard Classics" and the author is blank. In order to edit the metadata I would have to "view" each volume, write down the title and author, close the viewer, open the metadata editor, change the title and add the author, then try to download metadata. Well, I wouldn't really have to, but I like to have a cover and other information, especially a brief review. Since there are over 40 titles in the set, this would be tedious, but maybe worth it. I also happened to notice that some of the files have the awful OCR problems that are common when converting from .pdf, so I'll probably have to go back and get the .pdf files anyway.
Has anybody added this Five Foot Shelf to your library? Did you find an easy way to do it? Did you locate the link to the comlete zipped collection? |

Thank you for your effort to help. I could find a list of the books. I guess I was imprecise about what I wanted. Thanks, too, for the pointer to other available versions. I'll have to follow up on those later. What I was really hoping for was an easy way to add the collection to a Calibre library without having to manually edit the metadata. Since your is the only response I've received, I'm beginning to think there may not be any such easy way.

Starting off with correct metadata is, of course, the only real solution. |
