Flashing Sony Readers from a Linux PC
I would like to install porkupan's or some other modded firmware, mostly to get support for Cyrillic text in ePubs without having to resort to CSS replacement in each book. However, all the computers to which I have access run Debian Linux, and the only simple flashing program I've found is ebook_msc.exe, whose source code also depends on a Windows DLL.
I've seen hints that it's possible to set up a development environment for these on Linux, which includes building and installing Sony MTD drivers, etc., but I was wondering if there were a simple way to flash a recent Sony Reader (PRS 950 in my case) from a Linux PC. If not, does anyone know of a less-than-simple way? Thanks in advance. |
