Following the instructions of MR Package Installer, it just says to move two directories over to kindle. Later on when I try to "search" for ;log mrpi, nothing happens.

Read the directions.
Specifically those for a keyboard device.
You are copying the wrong file and probably copying it to the wrong place.

There is a "README" text file in the archive, read it.

Find the first six characters of the device's serial number on the "Device Info" panel which is a part of the "Settings" menu.
Using those six characters and this table:

Learn the nickname of your model.
You need that information without guessing, guessing can be hazardous to your Kindle and make it impossible to give your questions here a correct answer.

Read the top post, it tells you how to deal with xz compressed archives depending on what PC, OS you have.

Scroll down in that top post to the KUAL entry in the KUAL section.
Download it, open the archive, read and follow the included directions.

Now, when you bring up the KUAL menu, look at the bottom most line on the screen.
It will tell you what your device's nickname is and what version of KUAL is running.

That is: Both of your questions are answered for now and forever.

Hi All,

Its my first time posting so apologies if its in the wrong place/wrong format. I have recently installed the KUAL screensaver package. All worked well for a couple of days, really enjoyed having my own screen savers... and then screen savers stopped being displayed. After a bit of research i read that if you "Restart Framework Now" they would start working agin! So, full of joy at the thought of seeing my pictures again i restated framework. This didn't bring screen savers back, and now my mac cant see my kindle when i plug it in via USB. A bit more reading... I discovered that rebooting the device by holding down the power for 40 seconds would reboot the kindle without un-jailbreaking. This bought the screen savers back but my mac still cant see my kindle so i cannot add any new PDFs. PLEASE HELP. Thanks in advance

ONLY the jail break is bridged across Amazon updates.
After an Amazon update, anything OTHER THAN the jail break has to be re-installed.
Did you reinstall everything after the update to 5.8.10?

Has your device been allowed to connect to the Internet recently?
There is a 5.8.11 hang around out there to be sent to your Kindle OTA.

Neither:

None of our add-ins are protected across updates, you must always re-install them.

In this case, re-install the "hotfix" package, which among other things, re-installs the application keys.

For a PW2 (if that is what you are posting about), the one attached here should be new enough:

That does make a difference, a very big difference.

Your PW3 no longer supports active documents (the KUAL document).
Remove it now (if you can).
Read and use:

Try to install this hotfix using UYK menu entry or just by putting at top of Visible USB storage and re-boot (with long press of power button) into it.

installed the new kual update and now it works
i have the old kual link too but i can't remove it

KNC1, I created a profile just to thank you and Coplate. I've used this site for years to accomplish various things with my PW3 and older devices. With this recent update I was at a loss. Went through several threads and eventually worked my way here and a few others. Followed yours and Coplate's guidance after reading through a lot of info and I have successfully brought back my screensavers. I still have the old Kual application but I'll eventually figure out how to remove it. Thank you again for all your help and what you do for the community.
