Well, let's see if the "world's greatest democracy" will take into account the corporations' interests and their lobbies or the citizens a.k.a. the people for their final decision.

Became aware of it when I did a Google search and there was a info balloon link under the text search box.

I do not know about anyone else, but they had a nifty letter ready to send too the local Washington critters. All that was needed was your info/address.

I hope there servers choke!

But this will not be the first or last attempt to curb freedoms.

I would imagine there has been a great deal of money from RIAA and the MPAA channelled into politicians private and campaign funds to get whole sordid affair off the ground.

Freedom of speech is all nice and well, as long as the ones on top aren't harmed by it. And those aren't only the politicians, but also the ones with the money...

Like so many of our mindless laws, this one will be virtually impossible to enforce due to the abundance of violations and inevitable funding cuts to government organizations and employees needed to enforce it. Look at the effectiveness of Wall Street regulations ...

Wall Street regulations are ineffective because that would harm those who own the politicians. This legislation (potentially) opens up additional revenue streams for capital and has chilling effects that capital may find useful. It also may provide a model for policing intellectual property abroad, which is part of the long term strategy of Western capital for maintaining its hegemony.
