Free (nook/Kindle/iTunes/ePub) Arena [Award-Win Xtian YA Sci-Fi Adventure w/Romance]

Arena by Karen Hancock is her award-winning standalone YA science fiction adventure thriller with romantic elements starring a girl who volunteers for a psychological experiment only to find herself in a strange and alien world where the fight between good and evil becomes of paramount importance, free courtesy of Christian publisher Baker's Bethany House imprint.

This was the recipient of the 2003 Christy Award and has firm praise in the Publishers Weekly and Library Journal editorial reviews, with comparisons to C.S. Lewis' Narnia (though quite probably just about any Christian YA sf/fantasy would get those), as well as a warning for some potentially disturbing graphic elements involving violence and sexuality that more sensitive faith-based readers may prefer to avoid.

This was previously offered free last December. Given that Baker tends to do these 1-day-only freebies (although it could end up being one of their rare cases of long-term promo freebies, given the popularity of the upcoming next installment of the Hunger Games films), and this popped up just this morning, I thought I'd do the repeat thread for it now instead of waiting for tonight by which point it would likely have expired from most venues if you hadn't already gotten it before.

Currently free, probably just for the rest of the day @ B&N, Amazon & Kobo & iTunes & Google Play (all available to Canadians), and Christian Book (ADE-DRM ePub available worldwide).

Description
Callie Hayes is living a life of fear and disillusionment when she volunteers for a psychology experiment that promises to turn her life around. As her orientation proceeds, Callie becomes frightened by the secrecy and evasion she encounters. When she demands to be released from the program, she is suddenly dropped into a terrifying alien world and into a perilous battle between good and evil. With limited resources and only a few cryptic words to guide her, Callie embarks on a life-changing journey. Will she decipher the plans the Benefactor has established for her escape, or will she succumb to the deception of the Arena?
