It's the hoarders and re-readers who care. And I think those folks are the minority, going by the people I know (who read books at all). |

I look forward to comparison reviews of the Libra Colour to the Colorsoft. I'm hoping BadEReader does a video review. Granted the reviews are not great but they do quite good video so we'd get to see then side-by-side.

All current e-ink nooks have page turn buttons. And Kobo and Onyx both have= models with buttons. Clearly there is a demand, otherwise we would have so many other manufacturers making them.

If I was to use a Kindle, I'd need to be able to convert. If I buy from Amazon, I'll need to be able to convert. So conversion is another reason for no DRM.

The one thing I'll give Amazon high praise for is having a 7" PW6 BW. Where Kobo dropped the Libra 2 without a replacement.

I can't quite get my head around their decision to make minor changes to the Scribe and hike the price so much when they could (should) have added colour to the new Scribe. I'd have been all in with that one immediately. Comics, graphic novels and Manga would surely be a huge selling point for many people out there on a 10" screen device.
No physical buttons on the devices is disappointing and I still don't see the point in just being able to see book covers in colour. Do people routinely highlight text in novels? Not to mention the cost of the new colour Kindle compared to Kobo. Hmmm. I'll remain a holdout until someone releases a 10" colour ereader here in the UK. |

Has anyone been able to find any info on the RAM, CPU, or actual battery capacity of the new devices? I'm trying to add all of that info to this Kindle comparison table but it looks like Amazon isn't disclosing any of that info themselves this time around. They're not even mentioning the E Ink display types either.
The naming scheme has also just gotten even messier than it already was. The only consistent thing about their naming scheme used to be the release generation number. But for this 12th release generation they're switching that up too it seems. The product page for the new base model Kindle says: "Generation: Kindle (11th Generation) - 2024 release." for instance ![]() Frustrating to say the least. Also, I was hoping to see some bigger improvements on the new models. |

Generation wasn't always consistant even before they labled the first Scribe as first generation, and now it is even more muddled than you describe. According to tomsem, the description of the newest Scribe is: 'Kindle Scribe 1st edition - 2024 release'.
So now we have 'edition' with a 'release' modifier. |

You're right, the 2022 Scribe didn't actually have a generation number either, going by this list:
