Tragedy strikes....

Yesterday, I went to a restaurant across town for comida. Comida is an early afternoon meal in Oaxaca. I settled down, ordered my meal, and went to get my Kindle. I didn't have it. I had already ordered corn fritters and padthai and couldn't cancel and take a bus home for my Kindle. So, I downloaded my current book to my phone, synced to the latest page read, and read my book while I ate.

My god, I'm glad I have a Kindle. Reading on my phone was better than staring into space but not by much.

I'm old so I have a list posted by my door of what I need to have when I go out. Kindle is on the list. I need to add, "Check and make sure."

I have one of those 'oh' moments periodically. So funny that others go through that as well. I normally have an ereader in my purse, but occasionally, it gets taken out and not put back.

Years ago an aging friend shared the 'three slap' technique with me - while standing at the door, slap your wallet, keys, and phone to make sure all 3 are in your pockets/on your person - BEFORE you leave the house. It's proven remarkably effective.
Perhaps you need a 4 slap routine.

Any ereader comes in handy when you need to waste time, look busy or avoid speaking to people. I whip out my kindle at lunch and noone bothers me lol

Actually, I like to read. That's why it irritated my wives so much. I'm a compulsive reader in English and I live in Oaxaca, Mexico. That's why the Kindle changed my life years ago.

A week or so ago I decided that since I bring my phone with me everywhere anyway, I should just have a book downloaded dedicated to reading at lunch and similar occasions. My biggest problem with reading on the phone is that I don't feel like I'm making any progress with the book. Kind of like building a sandcastle using a teaspoon.

I don't know, I've always enjoyed reading on my phone and I've been cheating more and more lately with the snappy Kindle Android app.

Do a search of the internet. If you do build a sandcastle with a teaspoon by the time you're finished it will probably be a felony.
