Faulty usb-port - repairable?

The usb-port no longer connects with the usb-cable contact when used as normal. If I push the contact/cable upwards a bit, the connection works.

It's been like this quite some time so I'm pretty much used to it, I just place something a bit higher than the reader in front of it having the cable resting on that.

Just curious if someone knows any way to correct this? Or has seen this problem before? (I have searched several times but I don't have the best of luck with searches here.)

My Aura HD is about two years and I have reconnected it many, many times (but not close to the standard 10000 cycles it should endure).

I would try spray contact cleaner auto parts store should sell it. Radio Shack is gone now and missed by me.

You sure it's the port and not the cable itself?

The question is whether you have bad/bent contacts inside the port itself or whether the whole port is no longer properly connected to Kobo's mainboard.

Yes, it's not the cable. That was what I first thought and I actually throw away two cables during my tests.
The current (the original kobo) cable works fine with other devices.

As long as it's still working the way it is, I guess I can live with it. It would be pretty sad if it stopped working all together....

I have USB flash drive on key ring in a pocket when keys are not in use. Pocket and contents sometimes wet from rain coroiding Usb contacts. This can cause poor conection problems cured by plugging in flash drivee no more than 3 times to clean contacts. Don't think contact cleaner will really fix your conecton problem but not much more can be easily done.

You can also try a pencil eraser.
