A book I was considering dumping from my wishlist because itd been there for years went on sale for less than a dollar with the Kobo VIP!

Never give up hope.

Forgive me Lector, for I have sinned - twice.

Not only did I break my own rule by buying a "buy $70 get $10" gift card deal when I'd pledged not to go above $60/$10, I then immediately bought 8 books on my wishlist WITHOUT waiting for the gift cards. Average price only $3, but still!

Less than a week to go, and I've only bought 1 book this month!

Not any real great show of restraint, though, the selection of books on sale this month has just been quite poor. Nothing on my wishlist, nothing interesting in my eReaderIQ filters, nothing even remotely eye-raising on Kobo's deals, nada.

If we had more months like this I might actually make a dent in my backlog!

No purchases here either since 2/26. Same reason. I am tempted by the Dragonlance Humble bundle, but remind myself that I'm not a huge fantasy fan and do I need 20 books more?

Audible had a buy two for 1 credit sale and I could only find one that I liked in the sale.

I fell for the Dragonlance bundle. I don't expect to get a whole lot out of it, to be honest, but I was already planning to re-read Dragons of Autumn Twilight as part of a Lifetime of Books thing I'm doing for another site. The single book was quite expensive, but I ended up paying quite a bit more for many more books, which is probably still a false economy.

I read the first six back in the day, but I fear they won't hold up well to modern eyes.

I always seem to end up with at least 1 ill-advised bundle every year.

I firmly resisted the Dragonlance bundle. But I still managed to buy far too many books this month.

I've taken up a deal on a KU subscription, and I don't really know how to account for it.

I had a 30-day free trial last year, and I thought I'd probably have another month later this year when I'd accumulated enough things I wanted to read, but I noticed today that there was a deal on for 2 months at a lower price, and thought I'd take it up now.

The thing is, though, how do I account for that cost? I don't yet know how many books it will effectively be split across. Do I count them as £1 each until I've covered the cost, and then free, as I now do with Bundles? What if I don't cover the cost? (Not very likely with this deal, but at full price this would need 10 books a month, which is why I'm very unlikely to be a full-time subscriber.)

Do I just count subs separately somewhere? Do I just Stop Worrying and Learn to Love the Bomb? Er, stop caring, as long as I'm not spending too much? I guess I already wasn't counting Prime Reading, since I tend to think of that as a freebie tacked on to the video service.

In one sense I haven't paid for any kindle books this year since I'm still using a gift card I got from work before Christmas. (But then my actual money also comes from work; how is that different?)

I don't know. It gets complicated.

Still lots in store credit. Trying to catch up last years backlog.

At the start of this month, I took up an offer for 2 months of Kindle Unlimited at a reduced price. I was intending to have a flying visit at some point this year, when I'd accumulated enough that I wanted to read, but the offer made me jump early.

Most of things I have bookmarked are indie fantasy and related subgenres, where KDP is the main distribution platform, but I like a varied diet so I had a bit of a search for other things I could read in between or alongside: Crime, Non-fiction, and more mainstream SF and fantasy, and I put them in a wishlist for potential borrowing.

Twice now I have been suckered into buying books from that list when Open Road have dropped the purchase price to 99p. That means I don't have to read them during my 2-month fly-by. But they weren't really even on my radar except as potential borrows. It seems quite likely that it might happen again before the 2 months is up.

Added to which I'm not actually reading any purchases in this 2 month period since I want to maximise my KU time.
