How tho change the author name field

Hello,
I want to change the author name field in the main window from author to author_sort.
Found a hint, but this is only for the tag browser.
Please help.

You cannot do that without changes to the Calibre source code.

What you can do is change the algorithm by which Author_sort is derived from Author - but that was not the question you asked!

You can also make author and author_sort have the same contents, which achieves the goal.
