Have you voted for the Locus Awards yet? [Science Fiction & Fantasy]
EDIT: "ANTI-SHILL" POLICY My own work is NOT listed here. This is strictly intended as a means to recognize deserving authors and works that might otherwise be overlooked. The charge has often been leveled that Locus' Recommended Reading List influences the selections without reader feedback, but it is important to note that there is a mechanism in place for supporting works that did not receive notice from the publication. __________________ Have you voted for the Locus Awards yet? If not, there is a compelling reason that you should consider doing so: Locus allows anyone to vote for their favorite Science Fiction and Fantasy works, rather than restricting the ballot to subscribers or a limited subset of the professional community. What does that mean? Well, although the ballot is primarily composed of Locus' 2010 Recommended Reading List, you are not only allowed to write in your own choices, but encouraged to do so if you think they are worth the recognition. You could even vote for a MobileRead author's work, as long as it qualifies as either science fiction or fantasy, and was first published in 2010. Rules quoted from the online ballot: Quote:
You could select the winners of the Locus Awards. — M. David Blake __________________ Since we have a number of eligible authors here, I'd like to make this an easy-to-use reference/reminder page... but if it is okay with the moderators, I would also prefer it not get buried in the Author Self-Promotions section. [MODERATOR NOTE: THIS THREAD WILL NOT BE USED AS A SELF-PROMOTION THREAD.] DEADLINE: 15 April 2011 ("Tax Day" in the USA) Rules:
Best SF Novel
Best Fantasy Novel

Best First Novel
Best Collection
Best Anthology
Best Nonfiction/Art Book
Best Novella

And this comes, at best, very close to shilling for votes which is, to be kind, rather frowned on... and violates the intent and possibly the rules of voting for the Locus awards...

This is not intended as a self-promotion thread, and authors WILL NOT LIST THEIR OWN WORKS. If this happens, then this thread will be closed.

Thank you, Don! I agree, and approve (and I should have had the foresight to structure it that way in the first place).

Unfortunately I don't feel well enough read to vote, but these things are always interesting.
I appreciate the Locus Recommended Reading list though and will use it to add to my already overflowing To-Be-Read pile. Last edited by kennyc; 04-10-2011 at 07:36 AM. |

If only there was a single button to click to have all of those texts appear on my device, and then more buttons to click to send monies to those creators whose texts I most enjoyed. But as it stands I would have to click upwards of a hundred buttons, that is just too much IMO.
