Hardware Question

Hi all,

Does anyone know if the quallcom 3g module is physically present in a DR800S? The sim card slot is there, so maybe the module is aswell.

If so, would it be possible to enable it somehow?

No, DR800S does not come with the Qualcomm Gobi module.

That's a pity.

But the good thing is there's room for this module = room for wifi module for they are equal in dimensions. Surely then the software should be tweaked (quite doable though). I'm still not brave enough to disassemble the device ..

There was a page with instructions on how to change the 3G module within Kindle. http://ikindle3gs.eu/

Off-topic.

Glad to see your status as "IRX developer" ;-)
Hope it goes well. And luck for the new project.

I guess that depends on the interface the module uses. Soldering smd components is not my idea of fun.

I too am reluctant to simply open the device.

If there is room for a wifi module and we can get it to work, what would you want to use it for?

Hi,

I just wanted to mention that there is a lack of software support for 3G module with sim card.
