AN ACCOUNT OF THE STORIES TOLD AT A GATHERING OF FAMOUS AMERICAN AUTHORS;
THE STORY TELLERS BEING INTRODUCED BY PAUL LEICESTER FORD

Short stories, by well-known authors, published anonymously.

The publishers offered a prize to the successful guesser of the highest number of names of the true authors.
In the original contest, one reader correctly guessed eleven writers of the twelve stories. In the second contest, when the names of the authors were provided asking which wrote each story, twenty-four correct answers were received.

Note that the second story in the sequence, “Artemesia’s Mirror”, by Bertha Runkle (1879–1958), has been omitted due to copyright restrictions.

Sheesh, I doubt a fresh Ph.D. in Eng.Lit. could recognize even a couple of those names.

Sic transit gloria mundi, "of the writing of books", etc.

(Stories good ? - you took the trouble, so I'll guess yes)

Ah, fleeting fame. I was only familiar with 4 of those writers.

I really enjoyed some of the stories.
Some others, well...

Sorry, I am not much help, am I?
