Howdi from a GNU/Linux geek exiled in Florida
Hi everybody,
I am a self-confessed GNU/Linux geek from Florida. I am new to the world of dedicated ebook readers. Until now, I read my books (mostly in FB2 format or TXT) on either my Nokia N800 Internet Table and my Nokia 5230 'Neuron' telephone. In the former case, I used FB reader, in the latter ZXReader. I have a collection of ebook of just under 12'000 book which I manage with the fantastic calibre application which I run on my Ubuntu GNU/Linux desktop. I am not looking at various options to get a dedicated ebook reader and I hope that folks around here can help me get the right one. Though I now live in Florida for over 10 years, I am originally from Europe and my mother tongue is Russian. Cheers! "Farhad" |

Good to have another linux guy here but Ahhh.. Ubuntu.
I'm in a similar boat as you and got a kindle, even with the crappy mobi format. I preferred it because it was the best hardware for the cheapest price, and the most accessible. You can root it and install usbnetwork and have ssh access, then do whatever you want to it. |

Another linux'er here, also a K3 user, which is interesting considering the lock-in 'aspects' of it all, then again, we also produce open .mobi books for it, so I feel good (and it's great that the K3 runs on linux :-).
