Free & bargain romance ebooks & discussion in April 2014

As requested, here is an outline of the purpose of this thread:

We point out free and bargain romances to each other, and recommend certain books that are/were free (or the opposite!).

Because Kindle freebies are easiest to find, the majority of the books listed are from Amazon, but freebies and bargains from other retailers and in other formats are more than welcome!

In case no retailer is specifically mentioned in a post, it is safe to assume it's for Amazon US.

Be aware that many freebies are only free for a day, so grab them fast!

In addition to the freebies, sales, and coupons we do a weekly purchased/read roundup (voluntary only, but it’s fun to use Calibre’s virtual library feature to take a screengrab in cover view ) We also discuss reading apps and devices, books, and life in general a bit in this thread. Sometimes we go off on seemingly unrelated tangents, but we always find our way back…

Be sure to check the last page of March's thread for any deals you may have missed...

Today's Kindle Romance Daily Deal is The Shop on Blossom Street and Back on Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber for $1.99 each...

The Shop on Blossom Street
Quote:
Four lives knit together…

There's a little yarn store in Seattle called A Good Yarn. It's owned by Lydia Hoffman, and it represents her dream of a new beginning, a life free from cancer. A life that offers a chance at love…

Lydia teaches knitting to beginners, and the first class is How to Make a Baby Blanket. Three women join. Jacqueline Donovan disapproves of the woman married to her only son, but knitting a baby blanket would be a gesture of reconciliation.

For Carol Girard, the baby blanket brings a message of hope as she and her husband make a final attempt to conceive.

And tough-looking Alix Townsend (that's Alix with an i) is learning to knit her blanket for a court-ordered community service project.

These four very different women, brought together by the age-old craft of knitting, make unexpected discoveries—about themselves and each other. Discoveries that lead to friendship and acceptance, to laughter and dreams. Discoveries only women can share…

Back on Blossom Street
Quote:
There's a new shop on Seattle's Blossom Street—a flower store called Susannah's Garden, right next door to A Good Yarn. Susannah Nelson, the owner, has just hired an assistant named Colette Blake, a young widow who's obviously hiding a secret—or two.

When Susannah and Colette both join Lydia Goetz's new knitting class, they discover that Lydia and her sister, Margaret, have worries of their own. Margaret's daughter, Julia, is the victim of a random carjacking, and the entire family is thrown into emotional chaos.

Then there's Alix Townsend, whose wedding is only months away. She's not sure she can go through with it, though. A reception at the country club, with hundreds of guests she's never met—it's just not Alix. But, like everyone else in Lydia's knitting class, she knows there's a solution to every problem…and that another woman can usually help you find it!

I've changed the title for you, but only because another member reported your request to the moderation team. Had they not done that, we would never have known you made such a request. In the future, to make sure your request is acted upon, you should hit the "Report" button on your post and tell us directly what you wish done. Happy April, hope everyone's having a great day!
By any chance if anybody has a couple of Kobo codes 50%+ I could use them. I'd been giving mine away because I thought I didn't need them. However, I talked to my Mom yesterday about doing her new library and she informed me she would really like Barbara Delinsky's books, well, that woman has a ton! Anyways if so, thank you, if not, hope you all have a good day and hope spring is on it's way.

Has Harlequin killed off their Luna imprint?

It looks like the last thing they published under it was in October 2013 and I see from the cover flat image of the upcoming new Michelle Sagara "Cast" book that they've moved those books to Mira. It looks like the upcoming new CE Murphy "Walker Papers" book will also be Mira.

Self-Pubbed box set bargain from Harlequin Presents author

The Hostile Operations Team Military Romance Box Set by Lynn Raye Harris - $0.99
Kindle | Kobo (couponable)

1 novel + 2 novellas

Quote:
HOT PURSUIT (#1)
Evie Baker's luck just ran out. A trained chef, she's now working in her mother's salon as a shampoo girl after a disastrous affair with an embezzling accountant cost her her business. Her luck can't possibly get any worse...
Or can it? Her baby sister is suddenly missing, someone is shooting at her, and the only man big enough and bad enough to help is the high school heartthrob who stole her heart--and her virginity--before he joined the military and left her to pick up the pieces of her life.
Special Operations Captain Matt "Richie Rich" Girard can't afford to get involved. He's on the verge of a court-martial after a Top Secret military operation gone wrong, and he's been ordered to stay out of trouble while he's home for his sister's wedding.
But when Evie's ex-partner turns up dead, staying out of trouble is the last thing on Matt's mind. If he's going to protect her from a ruthless killer and find her sister before time runs out, he'll have to risk his entire future--and both their lives--to do it.

HOT MESS (#2)
English professor Dr. Georgeanne Hayes has a problem. Her star pupil, an Army sergeant who works in a Top Secret government program, is missing—and someone tried to push her in front of a train last night.
Sam “Knight Rider” McKnight is used to looking out for Georgie. When they were kids, she was just his best friend’s baby sister. But Georgie’s not a baby anymore and Sam is getting some very male—and very dirty—thoughts about the girl he knows he can never have.
When someone threatens Georgie’s life again, Sam will do anything necessary to keep her safe. Even if it means spending the next few days locked up in a remote house on Maryland’s Eastern Shore with her.
Sam might be used to denying himself what he wants, but he’s about to find out that being cooped up with Georgie will push him to the limit. And maybe beyond.

HOT PACKAGE (#3)
When public relations expert Olivia Reese stumbles onto evidence of a dangerous conspiracy right before Christmas, there’s only one man she can call for help. Billy “The Kid” Blake is a member of an elite military unit—the Hostile Operations Team—and he’s Olivia’s former lover.
Billy never forgot the sexy woman who rocked his world—and his bed—before she walked out on him. Now that she needs his help, he’ll do anything he can to keep her safe. But as time runs out and the snow piles up, can Billy and Olivia work together to thwart a lethal plot against the Pentagon without getting involved again?

Hi, have you checked the Kobo discount coupon thread? There's a code g5g5 for 50% (multiple use till 2nd April, or as soon as 10000 coupons are given).

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...15233&page=461

I've bought a few books with the code since yesterday.

I've bought a few books with the code since yesterday.
I did try that code, can't get it to work on either new or old checkout screens. But thank you for letting me know.

Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful thread I made some good headway with my purchases, thank you for your help, I sincerely appreciate it.

ETA Anemic Oak posted about the feature 'The Day He Kissed Her" by Juliana Stone, I just bought this because I just read the first in the series [The Summer He Came Home] and really enjoyed it, would give it a solid 4 stars.
