What do you think of EZread.com
Dear All:
We have the new eBook Interns and the forum is almost ready on our new eBook Store. The new "Meet the Author" page on there is going up and Steven Lake's titles are going to be up. We already talked with about 50 authors at Festival of Books and are getting fine and interested feedback. The first two "Agency Model" publishers are about to send us their titles again and the other three are close behind. Clearly, this is a pretty good time to ask what you like to read and what you think of the eBook Store and how we can make it better. This IS multiple choice so check all that apply! I didn't see where to check in the poll that the site lacks a photo of Iris!

I can't believe I'm the first to vote in a poll!
My main interest currently is Star Trek books; however, because of the agency fiasco I haven't been able to order any, from EZRead.com or elsewhere (except for the S&S website itself, which I really don't want to do based on principle). Therefore, I haven't been able to order anything I want yet--hopefully soon, though. That said, I noticed during the brief period between MyEZRead going online and the agency titles being taken down, I noticed some difficulty searching for Star Trek title, in general and for specific titles. Much of this is due to incorrect and inconsistent titling, which I've noticed is also true for BooksOnBoard--exact same errors and inconsistencies on any and all titles. That said, there are ways around this, if you know what you're doing and looking for--not everyone has that option. All that said, I plan on buying my books from EZRead as soon as S&S (and other agency publishers) get they're act together. |

Where is my fantasy option???
It would be great if we could select our desired category (such as Fiction/Fantasy) and view a list of the Bestsellers from that category, currently all that is shown is the New Arrivals. |

I would love a feature for saved user settings (aka user profile).
1) show only EPUB | PDF | both 2) show only non-DRM | DRM | both 3) <tbd> 4) |

Ok, I voted, but I skipped the options regarding the layout of the site. Ezread.com is good, but has room for improvement. For example, I would love to be able to search for a subject, rather than just title or author. I might not know the title of the book, but if, for example, I was looking for Christian fiction, I don't see any easy way of finding what I'm looking for. (My MIL reads mostly a certain author that you don't carry, but if I could find something similar, I could point her in the direction of your store.) I don't know how difficult that would be, though, to search by subject or key words. It might be too tough to implement. Also, it would be helpful if once we find a book we like, if we could click on the author's name and see all the books you carry by that person. Or maybe that's already in the works. But anyway, even though there is room to improve, it's still pretty good.

A great idea from Davimee
Quote:
We are working on bringing up all the books we have under the author's name and I will check up on that. Your idea to search by subject sounds great to me. I see where this might mean a lot of work by the eBook Specialists to sort 400,000 eBooks for the subject. That is the only problem. Publishers do NOT tell us what the subject is. Would I like this? YES. Can we do it? I have to check and see. Obviously the idea is fabulous but it would be quite a task. There just aren't people around that know maybe more than a few hundred titles personally. I will bring it up. |

EPUB-PDF, DRM/Non
Quote:
We do have the filter in there for EPUB versus PDF. That was done. We ARE working now on DRM versus non-DRM. I know tons of us HATE DRM and get tired of even looking at titles in it. Once again, though, the publishers who put ON the DRM do not tell us what titles have DRM. It is all in the metadata, I believe. I will look further today but we are working on it. |

It occurs to me that now that Iris is out of the country, she is not in a position to be able to prevent a photo of hers going up! |

I would like it to remember that between sessions The reason for calling it a User Profile. I am stuck in my ways. BTW one of the things I hate about the big A is the don't allow me to fine tune my recommendations. I buy Avatar on Bluray and I later get a recommendation fo DVD :/ I buy paperbacks. (A) Don't bother me with the HB edition. They do greate with Genere recommendations and suck with the other stuff :/ |

One thing that desperately needs to be added is a Wish List to store future purchases.

Wish List!!
Quote:
Oh-My-God!! That one almost slipped through and is critical. I DID recommend that we get a Wish List up on the site and it was to be done. But it was about to die without being born. Thank you for reminding me. I will positively absolutely try to get the new eBook Specialist to put this on the top of her list!! PLEASE, what should be in a wish list area: Title Author Format Price (maybe) Name of wisher. I am really thankful for your reminder!! This is important!! |

I just made my first purchase and the prices are great, and I love all the science fiction available! The search is working better than before - my search by author seemed to work fine.
I agree that a wish list would be nice to have. Science fiction and fantasy should have separate categories. I think any page when you log in or enter your personal info should be secure. The only page that was secure was where credit card info was entered. I shouldn't have to enter my name and address to check out if I have already registered and checked out previously. The prices are so good though, that I'll live with it for now. |

While it is a nice book store I am surprised there is not even a hint of a link to device web site. And theezreader.com site recommends eBook stores but not this one. Don't you like each other?
