Good Queen Lizzie only does that on her official birthday in June but her actual birthday is the 21st April.

appropriately, the first birthday honour goes to Patricia, who receives the Order of Merit of Literary Promulgation and will now be addressed as Dame Patricia.

the second birthday honour goes to Alexander Turcic for all the hard work he puts into this site and for letting us run wild in such a pleasant and charming atmosphere. Sir Alex will recieve the Order of the Clavier (for Unimpeachable Kindness, Good Humour and, obviously, Well-Temperedness).

All the mods also receive knighthoods for Innumerable Services Rendered and Valour.

The entire Ministry receives the Silver Star of Absurditatum Splendidum (or whatever "splendid absurdity" would be in latin).

I think that's a good start.

Queen Victoria got fed up with reviewing troops and seeing ambassadors. So she decided to do that on her official birthday and enjoy herself on her actual birthday. Gladstone - the Prime Minister - suggested the idea to her.

well that is a brilliant idea if i've ever heard one. and very convenient, because as it happens i have a longstanding policy of celebrating my birthday at random, unrelated dates, never on the actual day and in fact not even in the correct month. on the rare occasions i celebrate it at all, that is.

Well, and it gives you an extra day for presents ... right?? You get them on both your actual birthday, and your official one.

i hadn't even thought of the presents aspect of it.

(y'all know that i want a roomba this year, right ? you can get it for me as a group gift, i won't mind. it can even count for both birthdays, official and de facto.)
