KUAL problem PW2
Hello, I jailbroke my device when I had 5.4 firmware, then updated to 5.6.1.0.6 and KUAL was working perfectly. I had to wipe my device while being on 5.6.1.When launching Kual, however, I get a message "Restarting your kindle. The item failed to close properly" The jailbreak seems to be in place (once got *Gandalf* message during restart and to check I tried to update a jailbreak and it went successfully). Is there a way to overcome this?
Thank you very much in advance. Last edited by Lightevilaster; 03-18-2015 at 11:24 AM. |

Does KUAL still work? Sounds like it just crashed horribly.

That is the problem. KUAL crashes on the launch and I am looking for ideas how to fix it.

@Lightevilaster: Is your PW2 crumbling under the weight of eleventy billions files being indexed? Do you have a rather loaded extensions folder? Are you leaving it time to breathe after the boot process?
Actually, scratch that, I misread your initial message, so, better question: What do you mean, *exactly* by 'wipe'? (And which *exact* version of the JB did you have?). |

I wiped it by choosing in settings "reset device"; I have no files on the device except KUAL; used the 1.14V of the jailbreak

@Lightevilaster: Then you killed key parts of the JB with the reset to factory default. Install the 5.6.x JB hotfix and try again. And remember for next time that a factory reset is mostly evil, mostly useless (meaning there's usually a better, more precise way to fix an issue) .

If you mean the hotfix from this thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...postcount=1597 I did that, it went through successfully, but KUAL still gives the same error(

By the way is there a way to check that jailbreak works besides launching KUAL?

Then back to my initial questions ^^.
Also, and more importantly, make sure you're using the very latest KUAL version (and that you're clicking on the right one, if you renamed the azw2 file at one point). |

I am using KUAL version 2.5 and have not renamed the file. KUAL file and the hotfix are the only files that I have downloaded after a reset. The hotfix installed successfully. I let the kindle for 30 minutes and tried to launch KUAL again-still the same error. I also tried launching collection manager (I know that it is ncompatible with 5.6.1.0.6). It used give the incorrect version error back when my KUAL worked fine, now the error is the same as in KUAL.I see that there is probably not a lot left to try ^^.

Huh. What kind of PW2 is that (3G/WiFi, shipped from/to)?
I can check if something interesting crops up in the logs: enter ;dm in the Homescreen's search bar, and PM me the system logs that'll dump in the documents folder. |

It is a Wi-fi Paperwhite (serial starts from 9017), bought from the physical store in Germany. I will send you logs right away. Thank you.

I am not sure if it is important, but I did a factory reset because the KUAL started to give an error "cannot start an application, try again later", or smth like this. Tried reboots and waits, finally decided to reset...
