What is the best PDF input converter?
I keep running in to PDF files that Calibre replaces LL's with single L's.
Obviously, per Kovid, this will not be fixed until the new Calibre engine is released. Until such time, what is the best converter from which to convert PDF input files? |

Proofreading when you're done... no converter does a perfect job on all pdfs and there are variables, such as usage of ligatures, which affect the end result...

Marcel Weiher's TextLightning.app actually attempts to parse the positional information in a .pdf, resulting in a .rtf w/ proper paragraphs and visual formatting --- it also is able to deconstruct ligatures for most fonts (including ones like Zapfino which place arbitrary ligatures in the PUA)
Highly recommended and much more useful than things like SolidPDF which just recreates the appearance of a .pdf using boxes in Word. William |
