For a small price, and if my first works out, sure. It'll be the perfect excuse to buy a decent sewing machine, finally.

For the time until I have something real, I bought a CaseLogic carrying case for 48 CDs. It is not much larger than the Iliad (17x27x3cm outside). I paid 6,- Euros.

I have just been out to buy a cover for the Iliad. Found an Oxford International Timebook System in my local paper shop, removed all the content (slides out), and used 3 small velcro pads to stick it all together.
Not perfect, but does the trick. |

Have you stuck the velcro pads to the back of the iLiad?

I actually find it quite a good surface. I dont think ill need a protective cover attached to the iLiad. I would rather go for a protective box for transportation. I would make me nervous to have that cover lid dangling around all the time. |

Yeah, my husband thinks it's ok too, and I agree it looks nice in the photo, but I'm like "stick something to my beautiful iLiad??? NO WAY!" ROFL
I'm still mulling over whether to make a carrying case, and take the iLiad out each time, or a cover that'll stay on (but not stuck to it, using the same cloth to make a sort of pocket, and some elastic) |

Yes the velcro is stuck to the back. I do not see the Iliad as a peice of art. It is a useful device for my work. Lets face it, the device is less at risk by 3 1x1 cm squares of velcro hidden on the back than being moved around on a desk, being knocked in transport, or rubbing against other items in my bag.
When the final cover for the Iliad arrives, it will probably cover the back anyhow. I am mostly worried about the screen, not the casing. That rubber coating is rather fragile. I have a mouse covered in the same stuf (or at least it was until it rubbed off). The cover is not ideal. I still have to be careful when carrying it, but it is better than nothing until october. BTW i chose velcro so that I could still get to the reset button, as it seems to be the most frequenly used button on the device at the moment Last edited by Pitchfork; 07-20-2006 at 02:33 PM. |

Well, I view it like a well-loved hardback edition of a book... I wouldn't stick stickers on it!
But that doesn't mean I don't see your point, I also want to protect it, I'm going to be carrying it around in my handbag, knocking against my keys, my mobile... it definitely needs something! |

Not that I have seen an iLiad yet but one of the concerns about any sort of a case or cover is that you have to have access to the stylus/pen and the stylus storage well maybe. From what I have read so far you need to stow the stylus to shutdown the extra power consumption used in running the Wacom interface. I did see somewhere that supposedly it would also shutdown if the stylus was out of the well and also away from the screen for a prolonged period.
Otherwise just throwing it in one of those Targus style notebooks just to use as a cover should be good enough at least for the time being. Last edited by firekat; 07-21-2006 at 12:06 AM. |

As mentioned in another thread, the LightWedge Original size case fits nicely (with a little stretch at the corners) and had a microfibre interior to protect the screen. I paid £4.86 at Amazon UK.

The little stretch at the corners of the zip is ok. I will post a picture tomorrow. Last edited by yokos; 07-25-2006 at 10:17 AM. Reason: odd spelling mistake |
