PocketBook Inkpad 4

Hey there,

PocketBook just released a new 7,8" ebook-reader, the Inkpad 4, a successor to the 5-year-old Inkpad 3.

Various german news websites report, the device will be available in the color "moon silver" starting mid-april for 289€.

-> https://www.computerbase.de/2023-03/...-4-generation/

Notable changes:

- New design (similar to the Pocketbook Era)
- slightly smaller (134.0 × 189.0 × 79.0 mm)
- bigger battery (2000mAh instead of 1900mAh)
- newest Carta 1200 Display
- much havier then its predecessor (265g instead of 210g).
- 32gb of Storage
- USB-C
- IPX8 water resistance
- Supports Amazon's proprietary file-formats (AZW, AZW3)

A flush screen and no SD card slot?

I would be interested in a device like this partly for manga and Italians comics, but not without an SD card slot.

Very happy to see the buttons on the bottom (which means the LEDs will be on the bottom.) Gives me hope that a new Touch HD 4 will also be designed something like this. Looks like PocketBook decided to trade light weight for more robustness. Probably a good decision, as this looks like what Kobo also did with their bigger screens. As this has Bluetooth and speakers and is waterproof, I'm guessing it's more of a replacement for the InkPad 3 Plus than the InkPad 3 (though I'm guessing it's replacing both).

Is it known that such a thing (Touch HD 4) is in the works?

No, but I hope one is. They may consider the Era its replacement, though — I'm not sure. PocketBook doesn't seem to give much notice when they come out with new readers. I don't recall anyone mentioning that the new InkPad 4 was in the works.
