better than reading a traditional eink. I just salivate at the idea I can see an eink with different color highlights, the cover, and even some image. Using it as tablet under the sun, etc. Ok is not like a normal tablet, but double lcd/eink colors will arrive soonish

This sort of very slow, low-dpi display is best used for signage, not reading books. The use case for colour readers is mostly in scientific papers and textbooks, where a high-resolution display is needed in order to read small fonts and detailed figures/tables. That market is only well filled by tablets at the moment, and I can't see this display changing that. ETA: And children's books - but the fragility of eink displays means tablets are best suited there also. Last edited by meeera; 02-14-2017 at 04:15 AM. |

Perfect is the enemy of the good; enough with the prototypes, please release something I can buy. My Mirasol ereader from 5 years ago has died** and yet still no substitute available. I've tried the iPad and Samsung tablets but even the best LCDs and OLEDs still don't compare to it sunlight. If someone would simply graft that old mirasol display onto any basic recent chinese android tablet I would buy it in a heartbeat. It's frustrating that there's still no ~6" color ereader available
**it's been erased and I can't find the old firmware files to restore it to a usable state. It's still running on Android 2.2 base OS and support is long gone Last edited by pata; 02-27-2017 at 11:30 AM. |

Great comment.
I have a JetBook Color which shows the the possibilities of color E-Ink displays. Unfortunately the device's OS is not that great. I like the washed out look. It feels a little bit like old color newspapers. So E-Ink ... go for it. |
